Mutevu Residence - Machakos
Scope: Architectural, interior, structural and MEP drawings; statutory approvals; substructure and superstructure construction; Phase 2: interior fit-out and landscaping
The Brief
The client engaged Keith Interiors on a design and build basis for the development of a five-bedroom mansion in Machakos. The confirmed scope covers architectural, interior, structural and MEP drawings; all necessary statutory approvals; and construction works for both the substructure and the superstructure.
Design Approach
Keith Interiors prepared, printed and stamped the working drawings; architectural, interior, structural and MEP; before construction began, so the build proceeded from a single, approved set of documents.
Execution
Phase 1 progressed in this order: working drawings prepared, printed and stamped. County and NEMA approvals obtained. Groundbreaking and substructure execution included excavation and casting of column pits and strip foundations, then the ground-floor slab. Superstructure works covered columns, beams, reinforced concrete suspended slabs, roof members and roof covering. This was followed by first-fix plumbing and electrical installations, fabrication and installation of steel windows, and plastering of the building shell.
Outcome
Project in progress. Phase 1 is complete: the structure is built and the building shell plastered. The project now awaits Phase 2, which covers the interior fit-out and landscaping.
